Articulations

Sternoclavicular joint

Articulation between clavicular facets of the sternum with the clavicle

Sternocostal Joints

The first sternocostal joint is immediately inferior to the sternoclavicular joint.

Manubriosternal Joint

One of the intrasternal joints of the sternum.

Xiphisternal Joint

One of the intrasternal joints of the sternum. The xiphisternal joint connects the xiphoid to the sternum and is an articulation made of fibrocartilage.

Note

By 40 years old, the xiphisternal joint often ossifies.
