Exertional Rhabdomyolysis
Armstrong1 postulates that exertional rhabdomyolysis is a severe form of DOMS1.
This condition particularly appears in hotter weather, following unaccustomed, intense exercise1. The resulting symptoms include swelling, tenderness, stiffness, fever, nausea, vomiting, abnormal histology, hemoglobinuria, and myoglobinuria1.
Other symptoms include dehydration, hyperkalemia, hypocalcemia, hypoalbuminemia, and elevated plasma creatinine.
