There are 2 bands:

• Anterior
• Posterior

Anterior band

Fibers run obliquely in an inferomedial direction, proximately from the radius, to the lowest fibers running the most obliquely¹

There are 3 bundles of the anterior band that reinforce it:

1. Proximal bundle: runs almost horizontal¹
2. Middle descending bundle: Increased obliquity from proximal bundle¹
3. Distal descending bundle: Most oblique¹

The inferomedial oblique direction prevents the radius from a superior or proximal displacement¹.

Posterior band

The posterior band runs obliquely, perpendicular to the anterior band¹.

There are 2 bundles:

1. Proximal ascending bundle:
2. Distal ascending bundle:

The superolateral fiber direction prevents distal displacement of the radius
